With infrared film and a filtered flash he could work unseen, and his pictures catch the watchers as clearly as the watched.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhen the series was first shown, at Komai Gallery in Tokyo in 1979, the prints hung life-size in a darkened room and visitors were handed flashlights, so that they became voyeurs too.
