Brainard drew constantly, and around 1972 he made a run of brush-and-ink studies of Disney's Pluto in motion, their title borrowing the language of Muybridge's motion studies. They show the same affection for the vernacular of the cartoon that made Nancy his alter ego.

This broadside reproduces one of those drawings. It was made for For One Boston (2014), a box of broadsides, prints and photographs by 147 artists, writers, designers and printers, organised by the Boston poet William Corbett to raise money for those injured in the marathon bombing of April 2013. Twenty-six lettered copies went into the box; this is one of four artist's proofs.
