In 1986 the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam gave Haring one of his first major museum exhibitions, Paintings, Drawings and a Velum, and that year he also painted a mural of twelve by fifteen metres in the city. This sheet is the appendix to the exhibition catalogue, which records the mural.
Haring drew at signings the way he drew in the subway: quickly, in public, for whoever was there. The Radiant Baby, which he used as his signature, began in the chalk drawings. A drawing made on a document of the exhibition joins the two halves of his practice, the museum and the street.
An original Radiant Baby drawing, signed and inscribed on the back, dated 1986.
