The catalogue of Tillmans's first museum retrospective in the United States, organised by the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. It opened in Chicago in May 2006 and travelled to the Hammer, to the Hirshhorn in Washington in 2007 and to the Museo Tamayo in Mexico City in 2008.

Its essayists come from well beyond photography: the artist Julie Ault, a founder of the collective Group Material, the curator Daniel Birnbaum, the architectural theorist Mark Wigley and the critic Lane Relyea, alongside the exhibition's curators, Dominic Molon and Russell Ferguson.

Inscribed by Tillmans in the year of the exhibition to two Chicago collectors.
