A survey of forty years of Tress's photographs of men, from the staged psychological dramas of the 1970s to the openly homoerotic work of the 1980s and 90s. FotoFactory Press published it in 1999 for an exhibition at the David Aden Gallery in Venice Beach, with essays by the critic Edward Lucie-Smith, the novelist Michel Tournier and Tress himself.

The book shows how continuous his concerns were. The theatre of fantasy, fear and desire that drives The Dream Collector and Theater of the Mind returns with the male body at its centre, and Tournier, a novelist of myth and the body, is one of Tress's most perceptive readers.

This copy is inscribed to Grace Glueck, the New York Times art critic, with a signed photograph, a letter and an invitation from Tress laid in.
