An artist's book from 21st Editions, a Massachusetts press that makes photographic books as objects: eleven original platinum prints by Tress, ten bound in and one loose, paired with poems by Guillaume Apollinaire in new translations by Dafydd Wood, with an essay by John Wood. The text is printed letterpress and each print is signed, titled and dated by Tress.

Apollinaire, who coined the word surrealism in 1917, is a natural partner for a photographer whose staged pictures have always worked at the border of memory and dream. Platinum printing, with its long tonal scale and matte surface, gives the images the quality of something remembered rather than seen.

Forty copies were made, twenty-five of them for sale.
